The Canton of Neuchâtel, a key player in the Swiss blockchain industry, has been a member of the Swiss Blockchain Federation since January1, 2023. By joining forces, Switzerland must continue to strengthen its position as an internationally recognized hub for blockchain technology.
In recent years, the Canton of Neuchâtel has developed its own blockchain ecosystem centered on industrial applications. It now includes more than 55 companies that work closely with industry partners and universities. This pioneering effort must now be expanded to all of Switzerland and the rest of the world. Joining and collaborating with the Swiss Blockchain Federation—a well-established and internationally recognized organization—represents an important milestone on this path.
“The canton’s membership strengthens Neuchâtel’s position on the Swiss blockchain technology map. It is a recognition of the Neuchâtel community, which works tirelessly to develop this innovative field, particularly in connection with the local industrial ecosystem,” emphasized Alain Ribaux, State Councilor in charge of the Department of Economy, Security, and Culture. “The Swiss Blockchain Federation serves as a catalyst between Switzerland’s various regions, and we look forward to the synergies that will be created through this organization.”
Since its founding in 2018, the Swiss Blockchain Federation has experienced steady growth and has been successfully working to make Switzerland an attractive hub for blockchain, thanks to its 80 members from various industries. The Canton of Neuchâtel strengthens the Swiss Blockchain Federation with its recognized expertise in the fields of blockchain, digital currencies, tokens, and ICOs. In addition to Neuchâtel, the cantons of Ticino, Zug, and Zurich are already members of the Swiss Blockchain Federation.
“We are pleased to be able to draw on the experience and successes of the Canton of Neuchâtel to work together to strengthen blockchain’s position in Switzerland and lead it toward a prosperous future. The conditions in the various ecosystems and cantons are already favorable. The challenge now is to make them even more visible and to connect them,” explains Heinz Tännler, president of the Swiss Blockchain Federation. “Experience shows that cantons that embraced blockchain early on become attractive locations for fast-growing companies, generate added value, and are highly regarded on the international blockchain scene.”
About the Swiss Blockchain Federation
Founded in 2018, the Swiss Blockchain Federation is a public-private partnership committed to legal certainty and optimal framework conditions for blockchain-based applications and business models. It has approximately 80 members, including the cantons of Ticino, Zug, Neuchâtel, and Zurich. “Crypto Valley,” which stretches from Geneva to Liechtenstein, is home to approximately 1,100 blockchain companies working on decentralized applications and more than 6,000 jobs.
About the Canton of Neuchâtel
Since 2014, the Canton of Neuchâtel has been home to a dynamic ecosystem of Neuchâtel-based companies active in the blockchain sector. This ecosystem has developed and continues to expand in close alignment with the canton’s core identity: a long-standing tradition of expertise in the design and manufacture of reliable, complex, and high-value-added products. The solutions offered by this ecosystem thus focus on practical applications of blockchain technology, aimed in particular at supporting production and logistics operations.
More broadly speaking, it is the entire industrial ecosystem—which is so strong in Neuchâtel—that will benefit from this promising proximity.
