The call for proposals launched last November was a resounding success: 75 applications were submitted to revitalize local businesses and promote the purchase of locally produced goods. The canton has selected thirteen projects, which it will co-fund for a total of 300,000 francs.
Strengthening the local economy in general, ensuring the availability of products and services in local communities, promoting a “buy local” mindset, and fostering partnerships and collaboration: these were the objectives set for this first call for projects, launched in close collaboration with the canton’s four regions as part of the regional strategic positioning agreements. Following a multi-criteria analysis that incorporated sustainable development considerations, the canton selected thirteen projects that it deemed most likely to benefit the greatest number of stakeholders and partners.
These projects are taking place in all regions and cover all of the established objectives. A total of 65,000 francs will be invested in canton-wide projects, while 235,000 francs will be allocated to projects located in the canton’s four major regions . All of these initiatives help to better promote regional products, encourage local consumption, and make the centers of our towns and villages more welcoming.
To best maintain the momentum generated—including among projects that unfortunately could not be supported this time—the canton and the regions wish to stay in touch with all stakeholders who came forward, particularly in anticipation of future calls for proposals. Some applications have also been redirected toward other co-financing opportunities.
The current COVID-19 crisis has made us realize the importance of local resilience, mutual aid, and collaboration—concepts that lie at the heart of the proposed projects. By fostering a more responsible and supportive society, all of these initiatives not only help develop the local economy but also contribute to fulfilling another stated goal of the State Council: to align with the principles of sustainable development.
