The Council of State has appointed Matthieu Aubert as head of the cantonal Department of Economic Affairs. Currently co-director of the BNJ Group, he will assume his new position on March 1, 2023.

The State Council has appointed Matthieu Aubert, 35, currently co-director of the private radio group BNJ, to the position of head of the Economic Affairs Department (NECO) of the Canton of Neuchâtel. He will take office on March 1, 2023. Matthieu Aubert holds a master’s degree in economics from the University of Neuchâtel and a Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in lobbying and public affairs from HES-SO. He is married with two children and resides in Hauterive.

Mr. Matthieu Aubert served on the executive board of the Neuchâtel Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CNCI) for several years and, in that capacity, served notably as the employers’ secretary for the Neuchâtel Association of Department Stores (GNGM).

A former member of the Neuchâtel Grand Council and a former general councilor in Hauterive, Mr. Matthieu Aubert serves as president of the Community for Integration and Multicultural Cohesion (CICM).

The State Council welcomes Mr. Aubert’s appointment as head of the Department of Economic Affairs. The cantonal government is confident that he will be able to put his extensive professional and managerial experience, as well as his personal qualities and network, to good use in the Department of Economic Affairs to address the many challenges facing the Canton of Neuchâtel in terms of economic development and innovation.

Starting November 1 and until Mr. Aubert takes office, Ms. Caroline Choulat, currently deputy director of NECO, will serve as interim director of the department.
